# Context Pack: Ari's Brain, the public teaching consult

Agent reference for the rewritten design essay. Only the quoted excerpts below are verbatim. This document is not an attachment endpoint or proof of live availability.

## Verbatim excerpts

> Personal writes must never land in the teaching index.

> Feedback belongs beside this path. It reports bad retrievals and gaps in the material; it does not write to the teaching projection.

> Membership adds a tool for consulting the work. It doesn't put the essays themselves behind a gate.

## Purpose

Ari's Brain is a remote member consult over deliberately published teaching. The pattern is a consult brain: give agents a source-backed way to use a public knowledge bank while leaving private memory local. It shares the general Cortex tool shape without sharing the private corpus or write permissions.

## Contract

- Personal Cortex and the teaching consult remain separate servers, with distinct IDs and permissions. Personal memory writes never enter the teaching index.
- The published library is authoritative. The teaching projection is derived and rebuildable. That does not make unrelated operational logs or feedback records disposable.
- Tools are recall, regions, modes, lineage and feedback. There is no public `remember` and no public write into the teaching index.
- `brain.recall` returns ranked material from the projection; `brain.lineage` leads back to the source essay. Rebuild state and source hashes identify the material's origin.
- Feedback reports retrieval problems and content gaps through a separate path. It does not write to the projection.
- Member credentials, rate limits and response budgets constrain the consult surface.
- Public modes are Default, Focus, Synthesis, Recall and Dyslexic. These change retrieval stance, not the source or access to anyone's private memory.

## Availability and business pattern

Live attachment remains shipping soon until a public member-credential path exists. The planned access level is soft ARCHITECT+. Do not turn the design into a connect-now claim. When available, `aris-brain` can sit beside a local Cortex attachment. The essays remain free to read without either tool.

For a business, deliberately choose material the organisation stands behind: published support playbooks, principles and explanations. Keep that corpus separate from internal drives, private client work and customer secrets. Define its canonical source, derived index, read permissions, publishing boundary and route back to evidence.
